iPhone won't access mail server

My iPhone has been flawless at getting my yahoo and iCloud email into my email (using mail app on phone). Recently (few weeks) it has delivered "error - see details" when updating email and says it cannot access yahoo or iCloud server. I can get email on my iMac mini with no problem, so isn't yahoo server. I must delete my yahoo account hen reinstall that same yahoo account and it will update and work for a few hours, then give me the same error. I must have deleted and reinstalled my yahoo account about 40 times. What is causing this and how do I change settings to make it stop, please? Thx for your help! JR

This is the easiest and best option (If it does not work See another option below)

  1. Open the iOS Settings app.
  2. Tap Accounts & Passwords.
  3. Tap Add Account.
  4. Tap Yahoo.
  5. Enter your Yahoo Mail address and password, then tap Sign in.
  6. Optionally, disable aspects of Yahoo Mail from syncing.
  7. Tap Save.

Use this option if the above does not work (As in your case)

  1. Open the iOS Settings app.
  2. Tap Accounts & Passwords (or Mail, Contacts, Calendar on older devices).
  3. Tap Add Account.
  4. Tap Other.
  5. Enter your full email address and password, then tap Next.
  6. Enter our IMAP settings for incoming and outgoing servers.
  7. Enter your email address for the user name, then tap Next.
  8. Make sure "Use SSL" is on and "Server Port" is 587, then tap Done.
