It sounds like a hardware/electrical issue.

When just using the trackpad without the mouse plugged in does the problem get worse, or is it equally as bad?

Does it happen on both battery power and plugged in? Is it noticeably worse (again, without the mouse) on battery power or plugged in? Or is it all equally as bad?
