[MacBook Pro 2011] Weird trackpad behavior

Hi everyone,

I’m facing a very weird problem with an MacBook Pro 2011 (13”, i5).

Today I was working on it and without any explanation can’t select anything using the trackpad.

It recognizes everything, 2 - 3 - 4 fingers gestures, right click ... but can’t just select nothing. The regular select click is just not working.

I connected a usb mouse and for my surprise even with that still can’t select anything.

Is something like computer refuses to accept a single click.

I already do a SMC and PRAM reset but didn’t work. Thinking about some software bug I restarted from an USB installer and from Internet recovery as well but neither of two solve the issue.

Someone can help me with this issue? I never see nothing like this behavior in any Mac computer is really weird to understand and can't find much information about this issue.

Sorry for my English hope you can understand.

Thank you!

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.14

Same problem is Safe Mode? Safe mode loads an extremely limited set of Apple-only extensions, so if it is fine is Safe Mode, not so fine in regular mode, it's something you added.

If you have an Apple-owned store available, you can still get an appointment for a free evaluation. After this long, they may not have parts. But these guys put their hands on these Macs all day every day, and they can often tell you what is wrong with it.

Hi!

Unfortunately even in safe mode have the same issue.

Here in my county there are no official Apple Stores (just the online Apple Store to buy products) só I can’t reach one.

Well this is a very weird issue. I read a lot of people talking about this issue (or very similar) but in any case there are a 100% unique solution. At this point isn’t a software issue I believe that is hardware failure but even thinking about hardware there are many possibilities some people solve replacing the flex cable others need to replace all the trackpad and find some talking about a chip into the board need to replaced oh replace all board instead. Many solutions for a problem can’t properly identify.

Fortunately I have more machines to work but if just have this one will face a bigger problem.

Will try to find some place that can identify the problem and based on that maybe worth the repair, hopefully.

Thank you very much for your help with this problem! :)

Cheers.
