How to crop a Mac screenshot

I would like to know how to CROP a screenshot on Mac. Mojave 10.14.5. Thank you!

If you press shift+command+5, it produces a selection box with grips around it that you can drag to effectively crop your intended screen shot.


For an existing screen shot, open it in Preview, click the markup icon on the toolbar, and then select the left-most icon's rectangular selection. Now, drag around the area you want left after you click the now available crop button on the toolbar, and once the crop remains, save it in your preferred image format:

Also, if you know the area of the screen you want to show, you can

press Shift+Command+4 and you will get a "target" cursor. Move it

to a corner of the area you want. Then, press and hold the mouse

button and drag until it selects the area you want and then release

the mouse button.
