iPod Touch Storage Reportedly Full When Attempting to Open Many Apps: Settings Display Plenty of Storage Available

The author has been unable to access many apps due to messages reporting “device storage full”, though the settings indicate that there is something like 5.9 GB still available. The author needs to know what the error is, how to remedy the error, if the device is suffering from a virus, etc. Thanks!

Hi P.On.Earth,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help with your iPod touch storage today. It sounds like you are seeing a message about the device storage being full when it is not. I can assure you, this is unlikely due to a virus.

Have you restarted the iPod touch? Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, try plugging the iPhone into a computer with iTunes and see if the storage matches up: How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

If you are still seeing the message, restore the iPod touch with iTunes: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings. Just be sure and make a backup as described under "Get your device ready". This will put a fresh install of iOS onto your iPod. Restore you backup and then see if the issue remains. Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup.

Have a fantastic day!
