Apple Watch Series 1 "Charging Not Supported" AFTER I take off Apple charger!

First time I've seen this - As I'm getting ready to leave the house this morning, I take my Apple Watch off the Apple magnetic charger and immediately the screen flashes to a black screen with the following text:

Charging Not Supported Charging with this accessory is not supported by Apple Device." with a button to Dismiss.


So I tap the Dismiss button, it goes to the passcode screen. I enter my passcode and it goes back to the same charging not supported screen - this all with it OFF the charger, in my hand. I even set it on the bed to take a picture of the screen - and went through the passcode screen again and it went again to the Charging Not Supported screen.


I put it on and entered the passcode yet again and the notice went away and hasn't been back yet.


What it the world?

I don’t know what counts as a hallucinogen for watches, but your watch seems to have found some! I suggest a forced reset (heavy duty reboot) as the first thing to try. Press and hold both the Digital Crown and the Side Button (together, at least 10 seconds) until the Apple logo appears, then release the buttons and let the watch restart. This should clear any glitches in the software.
