Invalid iPhone serial number

I have recently tried to trade in my old iPhone 8 to buy a new iPhone off the apple store but whenever I type in my serial number, it says "Error, serial number invalid". I got this phone for Xmas two years ago from the apple store. Can anyone help with this issue. Attached is an image of the issue.
