Group message not working

I’ve been in the same group message for months and the other day my texts turned green and wouldn’t send as iMessages and created a whole separate sms group chat for the rest of the people in it. When I turn my phone on and off again it will send one iMessage and then go back to only sending green. This only happens in one group chat none of the others ones I’m in have this problem?

Types of group messages

The three types of group messages that you might see are: group iMessage, group MMS, and group SMS.

The Messages app automatically chooses the type of group message to send based on you and your recipients' settings, network connection, and carrier plan. For example:

  • If you and your recipients are using Apple devices and iMessage is turned on, then the group message is sent as an iMessage.
  • If you send a group message to people who aren't using iMessage, then the message is sent as an MMS or SMS message.

Is it possible that someone new in the group does not have an iPhone? If that is the case, it would change the group message. You can also check Settings>Messages and make sure that iMessage is still active on your device. Check to also make sure you have Group Message turned on in Messages on your phone, and ensure you are connected to an active Internet connection, either cellular or wi-fi.
