mojave wifi IPv6

I have recently bought a new iMac (2019, 27") with Mojave. I moved all my old iMac material from my old computer. When I attempt to use wifi it will not get an IPv4 address. When I use my phone hot spot, it gets an IPv6 address as it does when I connect directly to my Spectrum modem by Ethernet. When I boot into safe mode it works correctly and gets an IPv4 address. Any ideas?

Is anyone else having issues with the Latest M2 Mac Book Pros (with WiFi 6E) not connecting to Cisco AIROS Controller based Networks if Fast Transition (FT) is set to ADAPTIVE? If the SSID FT option is set to ENABLED the M2 WiFi6e device can connect. If the SSID FT option is set to DISABLED the M2 WiFi6e device can connect. The devices ASSOCIATES and does 802.1x Auth but then cannot get an IP address and gets self assigned IP then disconnects. This is all happening on WiFi 5Ghz (no 6Ghz) from the apple site 802.11r Wi-Fi network roaming with 802.11k, 802.11r and 802.11v on iOS, iPadOS and macOS – Apple Support (AU) When your device roams from one AP to another on the same network, 802.11r uses a feature called Fast Basic Service Set Transition (FT) to authenticate more quickly. FT works with both pre-shared key (PSK) and 802.1X authentication methods. iOS 10 and later, iPadOS and macOS 12 include support for adaptive 802.11r on Cisco wireless networks. Adaptive 802.11r offers FT without the need to enable 802.11r on the configured Cisco wireless network. To support adaptive 802.11r, the Cisco network must be using controller code version 8.3 or later. Are there know issues with M2 WiFi 6e Based machines ???

How do I connect my new MacBook Pro to the internet? On my new MacBook pro with the m1 chip, when I try and connect to the internet I get the message that wi-fi has the self assigned IP address 169.254.131.239 and will not be able to connect to the internet so I can not complet the data transfer [Edited by Moderator]

Personal hotspot mac address on iPhone SE2020 and iOS 16.x (earlier as well) Since I am using my iPhone SE2020 iOS 16.x as backup internet connection, I have a small router that is connecting to personal hotspot (iPhone) and populate internet to WiFi and LAN. Since router (TpLink TP-MR3020) is portable, I can take it to any location I am working on. I have faced difficulties with situation once Personal Hotspot is turned off and turned on and getting new "Virtual MAC address" and it is necessary to reconfigure router for connecting to new BSSID as it is not getting connection. Is there any option to turn off 'Private WIFI address' on Personal Hotspot like on WiFi and mobile data carrier to operator (thought that second one would do the job, while it did not). Thanks in advance.

Hi there Cablephil,

This could be down to either your iMac or your ISPs router, so here is what I recommend you do:

Connect you iMac via ethernet and wait for an IP address, if your device doesn't automatically obtain an address, go into the advanced options of your ethernet connection, and select "Renew DHCP Lease", this will send a request for a new IP address from your router.

If the previous option does not work, while your iMac is connected to your router via ethernet, restart your router, as to make sure it re-identifies all the devices that connect to it.
