Constant static noise in Airpods

I just got my Airpods generation 1 yesterday. I can hear a constant static noise in the background no matter what I do. Whether I am listening to music, watching a video or even start typing a message.

I have tried multiple approaches: I reset the Airpods, updated my phone and restarted my phone. Non of them have done the trick. Anyone got any suggestions?
