How to remove deleted apple id from ipad

I recently deleted an apple id that was being used on a company ipad. Long story short, now I cannot remove the icloud login from the ipad. I have been able to log into everything else with the new apple id. The error that comes up is, "Verification Failed. You do not have an apple id.

Hello,

The iPad is locked with Activation Lock. There is no way around unlocking Activation Lock without inserting the device’s associated Apple ID. If this is not an option you will have to find the original receipt for the device that clearly shows the serial number. Once you have this document you can have Apple unlock your iPad.

Activation Lock is not a thing on a First Generation iPad since it cannot run the required iOS version.

You should be able to simply restore the iPad to remove the iCloud account.

Beyond that, how exactly did you delete the Apple ID? Did you use Apple's privacy portal to request deletion of the Apple ID? https://privacy.apple.com/

Otherwise, the Apple ID still exists. Whether the attached email address works or not does not affect the Apple ID.
