how do I export my photos from iphotos

Hi all - I'm a little bit tired of iPhoto - I'd rather have my photos filed in folders as Jpegs, rather than have to back up the iPhotos file. Can anyone advise how to export all of the Jpegs and if it's possible to do so into folders based on years?

has details of the options in the Export dialogue.

Just remember that if you choose to migrate from iPhoto to the Finder for managing your files you lose the non-destructive editing feature, you lose the ability to organise on photo metadata like the exif and IPTC tags - all of which are standard across all operating systems - among other features.
