Magnifier Bubble missing when editing text with your finger

With my iPhone 6 when I needed to edit text, I could place my finger anywhere in the text, press down and a magnifying bubble would appear. The bubble would show each letter as I moved across the word so I would know when to let go.

With my new iPhone XS it doesn't do it.

Any suggestions?

Turn your keyboard into a trackpad

  1. Touch and hold the Space bar (or press the keyboard on models with 3D Touch) until the keyboard turns light gray.
  2. Move the insertion point by dragging around the keyboard.
  3. On models with 3D Touch, without lifting your finger, press a little deeper to select a word, then drag to select more text.
  4. To select a sentence, press twice. To select a paragraph, press three times.
