Smart keypad connection

I’ve had my iPad Pro for about 18 months and all of a sudden it’s connection to the smart keypad is very inconsistent. I’ve tried the tricks recommended on line such as restarting the iPad, cleaning the connector sites, using the tab button—nothing consistently works. Will Apple replace my smart keypad or fix it?

Apple has a 3 year extended replacement program in place for failing Smart Keyboards. I suggest reaching out to Apple.
