Does an iPad “smart” keyboard need to be replaced after a time?

My smart keyboard folio is 2 years old. It’s triggering “this accessory not supported” pop-ups constantly. I have taken all recommended steps to address the issue, but the problem persists. Is it possible these things wear out, and a new keyboard is needed?

This alert is typically characteristic of a faulty folio keyboard. The electrical connections that pass though the flexible fabric hinges typically fracture - this usually resulting in errors and/or the on-screen notification that you see.

The Smart folio keyboard is not repairable. The only remedy is replacement of the keyboard.
