iPad 12.9 magic keyboard folio, 2018

I purchased my apple magic keyboard folio in2018. It has since stopped functioning, and I get the “this device is not compatible” window. I have restarted multiple rimes, and tried cleaning the magnetic connectors. Would love any advice or help as I’d really like to avoi spending another 2-3 hundred dollars on a new one.

do they go bad frequently?

If you are using a Smart (folio) keyboard, the alert is typical of a faulty folio keyboard. The electrical connections that pass though the flexible fabric hinges typically fracture - this usually resulting in errors and/or the on-screen notification that you see. 


The Smart folio keyboard itself is not repairable. The only remedy is replacement of the keyboard.
