Usb Mic: Constant noise, static (even when muted)

Hi all,

I have a 2018 Macbook pro and am having difficulty with my new Blue Yeti Mic.

The microphone on the Macbook itself works fine.

When I try to record with the Blue Yeti, I hear a constant static that overrides most of the recording, it's quite loud. The yeti has a standard USB-A cable which I have used with 2 different USB-C adapters, the whine persists. I also tried a direct USB-C cable with the same result.

It's not environmental, as I do not hear this static on my Windows 10 machine.

Note on the mac I have tried recording with audacity and quicktime, same result

Can anyone help?

According to some internet comments on Blue Yeti static, having it plugged into a USB hub can worsen static noise. Does this happen when you plug it directly into your Mac?

Hi,

Yes, I have tried connecting it both via a hub, and with a USB-C cable with the same result.
