I have a subscription to Apple Music, but before subscribing I purchased some albums. I tried downloading one of the albums I previously purchased to my iPod, but I got an error message saying that it couldn't be downloaded due to it being from Apple Music. I'm not sure if I was refunded for the album after subscribing, but if I wasn't, I should be able to download it, shouldn't I?

Thanks for using Apple Discussions. Apple Music Library requires an Internet connection which the iPod shuffle cannot attain. Apple Music can only be used with an Apple TV, iTunes (on PC or Mac), iPhone or iPad. The only iPod that can use it is the iPod touch.

You should be able to download the music you purchased and import them to your iPod Shuffle. Apple Music typically merges purchased and Apple Music catalog together; so you'll want to download the non-subscription (Apple Music) album.

I know that you need an internet connection for Apple Music, but I was trying to download an album that I purchased before subscribing, so I would own it and should be able to download it, but I can't.
I was trying to download an album I purchased, but it gave me the same message as anything downloaded from Apple Music. Could it have been a glitch? The laptop I was using doesn’t have the best fan and gets extremely hot really quickly, and I know things can bug out when they get overheated. That’s how my iPhone 5s was.
