Why can't I print to an Epson XP-6000 after installing High Sierra?

I upgraded my iMac (21.4-inch, Late 2009) to High Sierra and have not been able to print since then to my Epson XP-6000.

I have up-to-date software and firmware on the printer and I can see the Epson in the printer setup window, but when I try to print from any of several apps, it hangs, with the beachball spinning forever. I have to force-quit the app to regain control of the computer.

Has anyone else had this problem? Have you solved it? How?

Thanks.

VikingOSX,

I tried to Reset the Print System, but when I got the Printers & Scanners dialog to open, it showed no printers. So I moved to the next recommended step, which was to remove the printers.

Finally, I downloaded the driver combo version your referenced, but the installer quit unexpectedly twice.

I'm pursuing this out of sheer cussedness; I've already ordered a new iMac, which is supposed to arrive Monday. But if I can get this one functioning, I can give it to one of my kids.
