AppleTV option as audio output when on phone call

Go to https://appleid.apple.com/account/manage and go into “Devices”. Remove Apple Tv. This worked for me.

I went to my Settings, clicked on top on my Apple ID, scrolled down to bottom of listed sources my iCloud is connected to and removed the Apple TV

I was able to log out of icloud on both of my apple tv's to solve this for now... Apple needs a fix!

I paired by using remote app on phone. Unpair by doing in the menu of Apple TV itself.

Not until now there’s no solution. Althought I’ve tried with several devices forget the phone as remote from Apple TV. It will stop showing and some how the remote will still work as a keyboard at least until it’s solved

Dear - Problem was solved with me using this method:

• Open Settings on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with iOS 13.2 or later.
• Choose General from the root list.
• Tap AirPlay & Handoff.

Note: You won’t see this new section unless you have iOS 13.2 or later.

• Tap Automatically AirPlay to TVs.
• Select Never to stop the device form automatically sending video to compatible smart TVs.

Note: I also turned off Transfer to HomePod & Handoff

Are you sure your phone isn't pairing again with your Apple TV 4 based on proximity? I can repeat the error if I take my phone close (let's say within twelve inches) to the Apple TV 4. Then they pair and I get the audio source again. However, when I remove the phone from pairing with the Apple TV 4, I don't get the recurrence of the audio source. I even had two simultaneous instances of the same Apple TV 4 showing up before on the same phone.

Every Apple TV is linked to some room, u need to delete the Apple TV and the room from Home App

Turning off Handoff is what worked out of that list. And that's killing other functionality while fixing this problem.

My wife and I both have this issue too and it is SO annoying. I may have narrowed it down to what the reason is.

• I signed out of iCloud on the Apple TV and the issue went away.
• Signed back into my iCloud, issue was still gone.
• I had a red exclamation point by airplay and HomeKit and it wanted me to finish setting up airplay 2 by putting my phone near the Apple TV. As soon as I did that the issue came right back... had audio option instead of speaker.

So is this a TVos airplay issue? So frustrating. Also did anyone else notice when you actually select the Apple TV during a call it shows a Bluetooth icon? So is the iPhone connecting to the Apple TV via Bluetooth?

It did to me, try turning all of them off, and restarting your phone.

it will keep suggesting when u press to use another device (like broadcasting on music) , but when u have a phone call, it will never show again (at least that what happened with me)

I spoke with Apple Support about this. She had me reset my phone even after I Explained that the phone was working fine, just this one issue. ***Dont reset your phone**

Now I have side issues with individual app setting that are driving me nuts.

After the reset didn’t work, she spoke with her manager and then stated “That’s how it’s supposed to be and it can’t change.

1. Why would I want my phone call to transfer to my TV, (This appears wether I’m home or away)

2. Ok, I’ll bite.....So even when I try to switch my phone call to my Apple TV, this feature doesn’t work.

Can you please just remove it as an option. It is Null and doesnt work.

FYI: I use HomeKit, so I have to have the Apple TV linked in order to have access to my devices.

If you don't mind your phone not being connected to apple tv all the time then there is a simple fix. Go to the settings menu on your apple tv and click on Remotes and Devices. Within that menu you will find a place where you can remove your phone. Hope that helps.

So I’ve read before that signing out of iCloud fixed issue and I was like “why the @&$#€%¥£{#* would I want to do that?!?!” But then I actually realized that I’m not using iCloud or Game Center. I’m guessing it is possible to log A-TV into iTunes, then iCloud w/dif creds. So my apologies for dismissing this prior. I signed out of iCloud only and might just quit this forum. Good night

Yeah, I called Apple support directly, and after speaking with a “Genius” and then directly to the “Genius Supervisor” I was told that this is not a bug. It is “Designed that way, and there is no priority to fix the issue because Apple doesn’t see this as an “Issue”. That is why I came here and looked up this thread.

I have to say, it wasn’t easy to find either. Almost like the search method was being redirected away from the conversation altogether.

Also, in the new software update they removed the ability to screen shot an active call using Home button and Right side button. Instead it now hangs up on the caller and you cant get an accurate screen shot. Thankfully I can video record then screen shot the video and post it.

I hate to say, but Apple is not going to prioritize this. Its not on the list of things affecting security or functionality. Therefore its not a “Bug”.
