Using Dell U2913WM with MacBook Pro (2019)

The Apple ThunderBolt-3 <--> ThunderBolt-2 adapter produces ONLY Thunderbolt for a display signal at the other end. No other display signals are available, even with additional adapters.

You can not "stack" display adapters. You must make the leap from computer port to display input in at most ONE adapter, in almost every case.

I was using an Apple multi port adapter that included an HDMI port. After spending time on the phone with Apple Technical support, we learned that the apple adapter did not support the necessary refresh rate. I bought a Belkin HDMI to USB C adapter, and that works.

I am having the same issue with my Dell UltraSharp 34 Ultrawide monitor - U3415WB. I'm using the appropriate cables. I checked for new drivers from Dell, and they are not providing any AppleOS drivers. Are there any other options? I'd hate to have to buy a new monitor.

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today. It sounds like you want to connect your Dell monitor to your 2019 MacBook Pro.

This connection should work with HDMI. Are you using an Apple adapter? Have you tried a different cable? Have you checked for any firmware updates that your monitor may have from Dell?
