New drivers to fix speaker problems on Windows 10 running on Boot Camp

From another user's Q & A, I gather than some device problems--like nonworking iMac speakers--occurring in Window 10 (running with Boot Camp on an iMac / Mojave) can be fixed by switching to Mojave, downloading and saving updated or uncorrupted drivers to a USB drive, and running setup.exe. But where do I run setup.exe? And won't that totally reinstall BootCamp and wipe out both Windows 10 and whatever data I have stored on it? My partition is about 90% Windows, rather than vice versa, and the possibility of a clean reinstall makes my legs shakey! Thanks for anyone's help and clear guidance.

Proxypartner again. The instructions were perfect almost to the very end. But when opening the Setup app, there's no option for 'Repair', only 'Install.' Not knowing what would happen, I backed out, did a full backup--just in case, then went back in and clicked 'Install.' The system chugged, coughed, the display went tiny, and finally it asked for a restart. All booted up normally, but with a very small screen display. So I went to Start, then Setting, then System. On that page, there's a left side bar choice for Display. One option allows changes to 'Scale and Layout.' I changed the setting to 225%--good for my aging eyes. Everything returned to previous comfortable size without having to change resolution at all. Best of all, my Mac speakers now work in Windows without resorting to an external speaker. Thanks for the help, Loner T

You can re-install just the BC drivers. See Download and install Windows support software on your Mac - Apple Support for reference.

No. The link is just for BC drivers, not for installing Windows using BC Assistant.

I highly recommend Windows backups to an external disk, for your own safety.

Hi, Loner T. Last quick comment: I just checked the thumb drive I had to download Boot Camp for this fix. It's only 1.16 GB--far less than the recommended "16 GB or more". I had gone out to get a USB 3.0 32GB drive, assuming this would be a long download from Apple, and even longer to upload on the Windows side. Not so. Just thought you'd want to know. And again, thanks for your quick help--it's just fabulous to have desktop speakers (and mouse) working again. I'm hoping it also cured a standing problem with Skype not being able to find / activate my speakers.
