myQ HomeKit hub shows as "Not Responding" in Home app when I am not on my home Wifi

I have had a LiftMaster Wifi compatible garage door opener for about a year or two and it has worked great.

Over the weekend I decided to install the myQ bridge to make the installation HomeKit compatible. The installation seemed to go easy enough and, while in my garage, I asked Siri to open and close the garage door and it worked.

Then I left the house and noticed that the Garage Door reported "No Response" within the Home app and therefore Siri was not able to open / close the door. But when I returned to my home, the Home app refreshed and I was able to interact with my Garage Door using the Home app again. So it looks like it works correctly / as expected when I am on my home Wifi but when I leave / am on LTE it reports back with "No Response." Same holds true when viewing my Home using the Home app on my MacBook Pro here at work.

If I attempt to interact with my garage door using the myQ app it works as expected away from home - there just does not seem to be any HomeKit connectivity even though it appears everything is setup correctly.

I have several other HomeKit enabled devices that I can see just fine so I know the outside world connection is working fine. I have 4 AppleTVs and 1 HomePod so I should be covered as far as HomeKit hubs are concerned.

I contacted LiftMaster support but they could only troubleshoot their app which as I said is working fine remotely. Seems strange since they also sell a HomeKit product now too but...

Any thoughts on what I might have done wrong?

I’m having the same issue with “no response” in the HomeKit app. However, the My Q app always works flawlessly. I was on the phone with chamberlain (which owns LiftMaster) for quite sometime and they led me to believe it’s a HomeKit issue. I even bought a new LiftMaster Homebride resulting in the same issue. Chamberlain said everything checks out correctly on their end.

Somewhere in the process of adding the LiftMaster Homebridge to HomeKit is flawed. I had the same issue of adding the LiftMaster Homebridge itself to HomeKit, but after a few tries it worked. But then after 24-48 hours, the HomeKit app shows no response. However, if i unplug the LiftMaster Homebrige and plug it back in, it works fine again. Not a good fix! I don’t want to automate a plug to do this either.

Honestly, I was and early adopter for this and it worked with HomeKit solid for a year. Then for the last year it has been a disaster. Since iOS 12 it’s been an issue for me. Apple may have made changes since then which may have corrupted my HomeKit profile and may not be resolved unless I delete HomeKit and add start fresh which is not a solution for me since I have 150 devices on it. The other devices work fine other than this new LG tv I have that is doing the same thing. I cannot take the time to add everything back to HomeKit and rename everything just for the 2 garage doors and tv.

I need help and have spent countless hours trying to resolve this issue. I remember the last time I had this issue was a few years ago with 10 of my ecobee 3’s. Apple had me delete everything and then everything worked after creating a new HomeKit profile and adding everything back. There has to be a better way than this. Especially since everyone has grown their HomeKit over the years and deleting everything is not reasonable.

Update and my setup.

My setup is:

  • 2 sidemounted LiftMaster 8500 garage door openers
  • LiftMaster 819LMB Homebridge (Gateway)
  • 2 LiftMaster 888LM Control panel for each garage door opener

I just ordered a Liftmaster 889LM control panel replacement for free. Supposedly the 888LM had a bunch of issues where it would just die, so LiftMaster is replacing them for free under warranty. Go to the site, look up the 889LM, and there will be a big warranty banner on the page of the item to get the free replacement.

Hopefully this works for me. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Well I think I figured out what was causing my issue. I noticed that while opening or closing the garage door with the MyQ app, the animation would switch back and forth from opening to closing while the door was in motion. So I figured maybe the door sensor battery might be weak confusing the the bridge/hub of the doors correct position. I removed and replaced the CR2450 battery in the sensor and have not had an issue now for two days. Hope this might help someone.

Any answer to this problem? Mine worked for an entire year flawlessly and all of a sudden "no response." I deleted and tried setting it back un with apple home kit both by scanning the home kit number and by entering it manually and now the home kit doesn't even recognize it. It just continues to say adding accessory with the wheeling spinning but nothing happens. This is really frustrating.

Mine says updating for like 5 seconds then works. Problem is because of the delay I can’t use “hey Siri”. Also, I am guessing it will affect automations. Ugh. I have 5 garage doors and they all act the same. It is like He Home App queries the bridge each time it is activated and it takes 5 seconds to get the status of the doors.
