I have a new iPad and when connected to my computer it does not reconize it. Im trying to backup all of my data on iTunes

I have a new iPad and I'm trying to restore from my iTunes backup. But it doesn't recognize the new iPad

Now if I try to connect the iPad to iTunes I get a message asking if I want to set it up as a new iPad or restore a backup from my iPhone. I don't want to do either of those things. iTunes not recognizing iPad with iPad iOS 14 Just updated to iPad iOS 14. Went to backup my iPad on my MacBook Pro with OS High Sierra. Opened iTunes on the MacBook Pro and iTunes doesn't recognize that my iPad is plugged into the laptop. So, unable to do a backup, which has never been a problem before. The iPad is charging when plugged into the laptop via USB, so the laptop knows it's there. Is this a problem with new iPad iOS 14?
