BootCamp / Bluetooth Not Showing in device manager / Windows 10

I am on rMBP late 2013 , recently I upgraded from W7 to W10 and had BSOD but I solved that by renaming a file in drivers which was MacHalDriver.sys to .bak (just wrote 1st part in case someone need it) .

In the last 2/3 years I was unable to use bluetooth on my device while on bootcamp /W7 but I was hoping if I upgrade to W10 that problem would be solved , BUT SEEMS actually people have same problem on W10 also.

My bluetooth does not show in Device Manager at all ,I checked every single trick on the internet :

1-checked Device Manager /view /show hidden devices /failed

2-Device Manager /action/scan for hardware change /failed

3-Tried to install from the file I DL from apple called like something like : "AppleBluetoothInstaller64 " from bootCamp5.1.5640 which I Downloaded manually while back .

4-looked for deleting a file called : MotioninJoy in device manager but I don't have it , should I look for it elsewhere , like in windows driver ?

link to DL bootcamp for rMBP late 2013 : https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1721?locale=en_GB

Funny thing is , if I use BootCamp assistant ro download driver update , I always get an error message when I try to run them .It seems bootcamp DL wrong driver for my device so I had to find the page and DL myself ,which not 100% sure if its updated , I put the link above.

So I cannot find the bluetooth anywhere in device manager /cannot reinstall the bluetooth because I get the message : not needed ( no device for update was found ) .

Is there anyway to get the bluetooth function at all ? I have seen people struggling all over the internet and no one found a certain solution ?

Also , my last question , does anyone used Brigadier instead of bootcamp to DL drivers etc ?

I don't know if my problem is driver or something else ! btw my BT works fine on OS section .

Thanks

Here is the solution for :

1-Not being able to install bootcamp drivers on windows 10 and getting error "installed product does not match installation source .

2-Bluetooth not working on Windows 10 , even getting message "there is not bluetooth on this device ,please use external bluetooth)

Here is what I did :

1-Click the start button and type in "regedit". Right click -> Run as administrator

Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products and find the folder "A2C2B2AF14AEA5943980062716525D26". Rename that folder to something like "_A2C2B2AF14AEA5943980062716525D26" or whatever. You can also export it (as a backup) and then just delete it,it might take some time to find the folder ,take a good look ,there are so many folders in there and try not to mess other folders // after that close regedit.

install setup.exe from usb you already created (using bootcamp assistant) ,you can also direct DL on your windows part and go other way which I provide you with the link that explained it that way .

If you're still getting a "Windows Installer stopped working" dialog , just ignore it and click on "Close Windows Installer" and BC should continue to install , after installation complete it will ask you to restart your computer ,if it didn't ask , you restart anyway.

Be aware some people have had problem opening apps like Office etc ,others had some problem with audio but they all are explained on the other link I provide you ,just take a look .

For me all my driver actually works fine and I was able to open Excel but didn't have office to try ,however I have had another small glitch which trake me 15 mins to realise what it is :

If you are using an external monitor (like me) , driver update will scale to random number ,the layout for Apps /Texts etc and at 1st glance it might look like graphic card problem ,but it isn't .even all my resolution was correct ,but items was just simply zoomed in in ultra size , so just put it back to recommended size and you are good to go .

Now I am a happy chappy typing with my bluetooth keyboard as well as using my bluetooth headphones and mouse all together :))

Good luck to you all .

Do not install Bc 5.x drivers on W10. To get the correct drivers, in macOS, run BC Assistant -> Action -> Download. See Download and install Windows support software on your Mac - Apple Support for reference.

Incidentally, W7 drivers have always worked properly on my 2013 rMBPs for years.

Windows

  • should be disallowed to turn off devices to save power, and,
  • should have BT/WiFi Collaboration enabled, if available

a quick question: is it possible Windows 7 prevent driver updates? ( I still have W7 and haven’t deleted it yet))

Yes, it can! What should happen is any updated driver should be put in place, keeping the old W7 drivers, till a W10 driver is available.

I ran Windows update and under apple update , bootcamp driver update 6.cxx came up , but ran to the same issue and stopped .

This is expected, as some of the files to replace drivers are now missing.

SysPrep is the cleanest path forward. Also, 'Reset My PC' removes all BC drivers, and can be an option.

The BC setup.exe removes and re-installs drivers. The 5.x drivers that are currently installed, must be removed. The reference to 5.0.5411 is to check for an 'uninstaller'. It is failing in that.

Once it has removed 5.x drivers, it will install 6.x drivers.

Another option is to consider running SysPrep (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/sysprep-process-overview).

Thanks Loner ,Actually most of the things I read was by you :) I realized that my drivers are for W7/8 , but BC assistant does not assist me at all , every time I am given wrong driver . however I haven't checked it for W10 ,will give it a try now .

But could you also give me some link in casew Assistant was unsuccessful , so I could DL them manually manually .

Ok ,I wrote 3 times this and page randomly crashed :)

Did you mean when I "upgraded W7 to 10" ?

When I upgraded to 10 ,I got BSOD , I found article suggested going to Windows/System32/Drivers and doing this 2 things :

1-Renaming MacHaldriver.sys to .bak

2-deleting a file named WUDFRd.sys

I did the 1st but couldn't do 2nd because It gave me " action cannot complete because the file is open in another program"

But I rebooted after that and W10 started working and no more BSOD .

So is it possible that file making this ? is there anyway to force delete that file ?

also you suggested that I delete few files , could you explain a bit more what file I should be looking for ?

I appreciate your help .

Yes, that was my intended sentence.

Nice!

W10 1903 has issues with MacHALDriver.sys.

also you suggested that I delete few files , could you explain a bit more what file I should be looking for ?

Not files, but click on Program and Features.

I have manually installed 2 things from the usb created by BCA :

1-Apple Keyboard , which helped me to get my volume working

2-Broadcom BT ,which was installed and confirmed ready to use but still doesn't show on device manager .

I also got screen from Windows related driver on Program and Feature , could you please have a look and let me know whcich one I can delete whenever you got time.

I don't want to make it worse really .

I re-tried to install all drivers again via usb, I get 3 error ,I put a screenshot .

But one of the error is : NOT MATCH INSTALLATION SOURCE , when I checked the use source it is actually this :

C:\ProgramData\Apple\Installer Cache\Boot Camp 5.0.5411\ , I know it's not what I am supposed to install , but is it correct to be there as use source ?

1st error :

2nd error :

Aug 30, 2019 9:15 AM in response to Loner T

So , is it looking for the correct source or not ?

I don’t understand exactly what’s happening here.

Is bootcamp looking for that source to replace it with bc6.xx or is it looking to incorrect source ?

Is there anyway around it or I give up already?

Thanks

ps : I installed keyboard driver manually and worked , but after rebooting, stopped working again , seems my drivers all are messed up .
