Recently...I've tried updating the settings but nothing works. I can't add my Verizon email address to Mail. I know that Verizon sold off their email division to AOL. I just like my Apple Mail app to handle everything.

I’m going with AOL doesn’t want Mail to work on MAC.
id drop them if I hadn’t already vested to many emails to my Verizon address.
