Incomplete iMovie Video Importing from Fuji XT-3 Camera

Hello! I have been trying to import several not-very-long videos (5 - 10 minutes) from a Fuji XT-3 camera into iMovie on an iMac Pro. Every time I import a video clip, only about 2.5 minutes of footage is imported and the rest of the clip features a black screen and no sound. How can I successfully upload the complete clip into iMovie?

Thanks!

Hi,

The Fugi X-T3 is listed on Apple's website as being a supported camera, so it should work.

First, make sure that you have enough space on your destination drive to hold the movie.

Next, read this link to confirm that you are following the required procedure for importing from a File Based Camera:

https://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.1/#/movbc953953e

If still having difficulty importing, try opening iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMOvie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Now see if you can get a successful import.

As a workaround, you can try using the Image Capture app on your Mac to import to your desktop rather than directly into iMovie. From there you can drag the movie into iMovie.

Another way, is to import into the Photos app and then access your video via the Photos item in the sidebar of an iMovie project. For this to work, your Photos library must be designated as the system library in the Photos app General preferences.
