Bluetooth Microsoft Surface Mouse not working anymore with Macbook Pro (2016)

I had been using my Microsoft Surface Bluetooth Mouse with my Macbook for over a year without any problem. This weekend however it is no longer synching with the macbook. I tried removing the bluetooth mouse and reconnecting it, but it still doesn't work. While synching, the Surface Mouse shows up as something that can be synched , which I select and hit connect. it says it is connected but it then doesn't work.


I confirmed using my PC that the Surface Mouse is working correctly and does connect and work with PC. 


Any thoughts?
