Any Problems with Radeon's Adrenalin Edition v19.9.1

Everything was fine with Windows 10 v1903 while using my MSI Radeon RX580 4GB Graphics card. Then there was a indication about a new update for the Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition. This update arrived via Radeon's Adrenalin Software notification. As it was being installed I stated noticing right away something wasn't right.

Ever 3 seconds there's a pause which stopped the mouse from moving and other system related performances. At first I thought it was processor related. So I checked for Windows Updates. After Windows updated it’s core services, I restarted my Mac. When it came back up the 3 second pause was still there.

So I searched for related issues reported with Window’s 10 regarding performance after it updated. There was allot of issues but nothing related to what I was experiencing. So I decided to reinstalling the 19.9.1 update again. Same issue, so I installed Radeon's older version 17.5.2 and that solved the problem. When I checked the release notes from AMD there wasn't anything stated. But there was something shown on Reddit which looked like it came from AMD. It stated that Bootcamp Windows systems should use Radeon's Software Adrenalin Edition.

After the time of this post I could not yet locate the link to screen capture. But I found the information to be relatable since it had caused unique system issues. Anyone else experience anything like this?

One addition note about my issue. Experienced on my 2010 Mac Pro 5,1 Quad-Core 2.8Ghz, 16 GB with Windows running off of an internal SSD. System had a firmware update to Boot ROM Version: 144.0.0.0.0

If you were having lag or slow pauses. Of general performance issues. Try turning off HDCP Support. For someone you that use this setting you may or may not have issues. As for me turning this off worked and has solved my issues. The HDCP works only with digital connections and involves encrypting the data as it travels between devices. Each device must support HDCP and thus be able to encrypt or decrypt the data, depending on the device's purpose. The point of HDCP is to stop users from connecting a playback device to a recording device to copy content without permission. Credit for this information can be found at techwalla.com. More information about this setting and it's issue can also be found on AMD community forum just search HDCP. Thanks to all that provided feedback about this issue.

Well it looks like people reported issues with the Radeon Software Adrenaline v19.9.1 drivers. So AMD now has v19.9.2 available to download for Windows.

This time I’m avoiding these. The only reason is due to AMD still stating NOT SUPPORTED for Apple’s BootCamp running systems. That’s all models of Mac!!

Be them prebuilt to order internally like the MacBook Pro, iMac Pro, iMac, Mac Mini and the soon to be released 2020 cheese grater Mac Pro. Of course this is the same for the trash can Mac Pros and the legacy cheese grater Mac Pro’s. be them after market add in GPUs or add on eGPUs.

Regarding Cheese grater Mac Pro’s

2012 and older (Legacy Macs) UEFI

2013 and newer EFI

Regardless of the Mac model. If you’re using a AMD graphics card with BootCamp expect to experience issues.

Because there’s no support provided for BootCamp’s usage. I find it bizarre that AMD has this stated about BootCamp. As if AMD is saying they don’t plan on continuing support for BootCamp.

Because it’s not working for many that use AMD graphics cards on their Macs. Especially Legacy ones. Meanwhile Apple has this information listed regarding drivers. Especially AMD ones.
