Cannot play purchased downloaded song on iPhone 6s

Hi, I have purchased albums/songs on my iPhone 6s which don’t play and come up with the error ‘Cannot Open - This content is not authorised’ and then the only option is to click OK. Why can’t I listen to music I’ve purchased on my iPhone?!?!

Purchased and downloaded songs (after they became DRM free) do not need authorization.

Re-downloading purchased songs does require the authorization on the same Apple ID as the purchase was made with.

Music content from an Apple Music subscription is not purchased (more like rented), and needs authorization from the Apple ID that the active subscription is with.

Were these albums/songs purchased in or before 2009?

Are you using the same Apple ID as used for the purchase?

Are you using the latest iOS version that your iPhone supports (12.4.1)?

Hi, thanks for replying. None of this is on the apple subscription just purchased from the iTunes Store, I don’t know if that makes a difference? Some are before 2009 most after. I would go with the authorisation issue if it wasn’t just some songs from an album. So on an album of 11 songs, 3 play and the rest have this error? Yes all with same ID and up to date software. I’ll look at the authorisation via my laptop later. Thanks again.
