Fonts get corrupt in various apps - requiring reboots
I get an odd problem and wondering if anyone can point me in right direction.
What happens is that after the machine (MBP, Mojave) been running for a while (sometimes a few hours, sometimes a few days, sometimes a few weeks), various programs - including core OS things like Dock, UI shell and even touchbar, will suddenly start having font corruption. Not all at once, mind you, but one at a time. If it is possible, restarting the app seems to fix things, but it is not always possible to restart everything (e.g. windowserver) - so reboot is required every few days.
* I do not have any custom fonts that I am aware of
* I do not think it is a font cache issue as it affects different apps at different times and restart fixing it and it coming back means even if it is a font cache problem, there is something causing the font cache corruption repeatedly.
* I cleared cache anyway, and checked with FontBook, which shows no issues and no User fonts
* Another interesting clue - when this affected my touchbar - I killed 'ControlStrip' service. Once it restarted, the function keys like FXX and "esc" are now displayed correctly but any helper text from other apps, like man pages from terminal or typing suggestions as I type this, are still corrupt...
* This seems to affect MANY others in our corporate environment, but I have not heard of it elsewhere - which makes me wonder if this is something related to some specific software we are using. Perhaps something(AV?) interferes with font loading at which point it corrupts the font?
Any thoughts?
