ios 13 and itunes support

Does anyone what Apple plans to do regarding itunes and ios 13 support? Apple released today itunes 12.10.0.7 for Windows users which presumably has ios 13 support but there has been no update for mac users. I am running High Sierra 10.13.6

I remember last year Apple made it really complicated for Mac users because they installed ios 12 on their phones but itunes was not recognizing the phone when it was connected. Everyone had to figure out how to get things working again when Apple released a software update to get itunes to recognize ios 12. It was a big pain.

In Finder use the menu item Go > Go to Folder..., copy the following text, paste it into the dialog box and press enter:

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/Current/Resources

Unlock your device and connect it to USB. Double click on MobileDeviceUpdater in the folder that has opened. It should notify you of a software update. Install it and iTunes should hopefully recognize your device.

I foolishly upgrades my iPhone Xs to iOS 13 0n 9/23/19 and then my iMac desktop (running High Sierra) in iTunes wouldn't recognize the phone on my desktop, but the phone would show up in iTunes on my laptop (also running High Sierra), after 2 hours on the phone with various Apple (tier 3 representatives) I was told my only option was to upgrade the desktop to Mojave which would have the necessary "drivers" for the iMac to recognize the phone. I didn't want to upgrade to Mojave, because I now can't use some of my other applications. After loading Mojave and launching iTunes, then got another error saying I had to load additional software in order to recognize the phone, which I did and it recognized the phone. I synced the phone and all my contacts on the desktop and phone were duplicated. I manually deleted all the duplicate information in my contacts file on my desktop , launched iTunes and selected replace contact information on this iPhone with information from this computer. After syncing the contacts with my iPhone some contacts are duplicated some in triplicate. Then noticed there was a fix iOS13.1, downloaded this hoping it would fix it, but it did not. I manually count 1190 contacts on my iPhone, but only have 556 contacts in the contacts file on my desktop. Noticed today while waiting on phone with Apple there was another fix 13.1.1 downloaded that too, but it didn't fix the problem. I had also tried removing all contacts from my iPhone and tried to replace the contacts with those on my desktop and each time the same thing. Today I spoke with Apple support again and was told since iTunes is going away my only option is to store my contacts in iCloud. iTunes no longer accurately syncs my iPhone and my iMac since loading iOS13 and there is no fix as far as Apple is concerned. I was also told there is no way to go back to OS12 once you upgrade to OS13, because even a factor reset will default to iOS13.

Yeah. I already tried that. Nothing happens. No windows or popups. Nothing happens and iTunes does not see my iPhone ios13. The iTunes is already running the newest version for high sierra. 12.8.2.3

via techspot:

Note: iTunes 12.9 is not available as a standalone installer. Apple has chosen to only make available bundled with Mojave. You can always download the installer for iTunes 12.8 from here and then update once installed.

I am thinking you tried the usual, like rebooting your Mac and checking to make sure you have all App Store system updates. Do you have a recent clone of your Mac that you can boot to for testing or Time Machine when you know it was running?

Did you try turingtest2 's suggestion RE: installing the “mobile device uploader” Look though this thread.

(that seems to have worked for other for help with iTunes)

OX Daily has a good page on removing iTunes and reinstalling it:

http://osxdaily.com/2012/02/06/delete-itunes-mac-os-x/

Before you make any changes, be sure to do a backup of your choice (clone or Time Machine, etc)

I hope you get it running.

Well, tried today with the new release of iOS 13.1.3 and it did not synchronized at all...

Under macOS 10.3.6 with itunes 12.6.5.3, I could download the iOS update for an iPad 5 under iOS 12.4.1, but then it refuses to install the newest version. A pop-up appears saying that "this iPad 5 can not be upgrated to the latest version due to an old version of the internal software".

Did you proceed directly with this version of iTunes 12.6.5.3 to download and install iOS 13?

I generally do over the air updates, and my Mac is normally running Catalina these days. I can drop back to Mojave to use iTunes instead of the new apps, or High Sierra when I want to use iTunes 12.6.5.3 for testing, manipulating iOS app layout, or sticking iPod clickwheel games back on my classic (which just dumped its library again - bah!). My iPhone is updating now but I'm not at home. I also realize now that I've inadvertently revealed I'm running beta software on the iPad. Oops.

Dear turingtest2,

OK, so the iDevice with iOS 13 can synchronise with iTunes 12.6.5.3 under High Sierra then. But you did not try to upgrade it directly through iTunes 12.6.5.3 for this major release.

This is where I am stuck right now with older versions of iOS, either on compatible iPhone or iPad, whithout knowing what an old version of the internal software is...

Oct 17, 2019 8:26 AM in response to turingtest2

The reason is pretty obvious. There will be no .ipw downloaded on iTunes, thus no full updates available after and the required constraint to modify all the iDevices one by one.

While as you are well aware of, this special version iTunes 12.6.5.3 allows to do it one for all. This is what I am intested by, so no updates on iOS 13 so far. It is really a pity this is not maintained by Apple on its new macOS.

May be the new macOS 10.15 (Catalina) does the job directly through the Finder?...

Oct 17, 2019 9:23 AM in response to Benzebut

Clearly if you want the app management tools provided by iTunes 12.6.5.3 then you need to stick with that in High Sierra. The ability to update multiple devices from a single .ipsw file really isn't worth the saved bits. I've kept a working copy for testing and so I can restore iPod clickwheel games to my iPod. I'm using Catalina to explore the replacements for iTunes, Apple Arcade, and so on. You can update and sync devices using Finder in Catalina. So far it has failed to restore my classic several times while also corrupting the library on it (once was a hardware issue, but it has happened more than once). Catalina might not suit you if you're still reliant on old features that have been discarded.

What would be wonderful is to carry on using my iMac with iTunes 12.6.5.3 as a hub for all the iDevices. It would appear a lot simplier for my configuration, thus I shall keep High Sierra as it is. The collateral damage being that it will not be possible to update to iOS 13.

Then the feedback on Catalina is very promising. Would it be then identical with the new applications to keep the iMac as a hub and for all?
