Can't use modified music in Photos for slideshow??

I'm new to Mac. I modified some songs for use in a Photos slideshow. Basically, I just shortened them. I placed them in my iTunes folder, but they don't show up in the iTunes dropdown under Music Library in the Photos app. I read that you can only use iTunes downloaded music? So I'm stuck using full songs? That sounds incredibly limiting. If true...bummer and I need to go to a different app. If not true, please show me the magical steps to getting my own modified songs into that dropdown.

You have to import the new tracks into the library, not just place them in the library folder.

How did you shorten them? You can do it in iTunes by selecting the track and bringing up the Info pane for it with the ⌘+i key combination. Click on the Options tab and change the start and end times.

When put into a Photos slideshow the new start and end times will be honored.
