Using Dell p2418hz video conferencing monitor w/MacAir?

I have a 2018 Mac Air and just got a Dell p2418hz video conferencing monitor b/c I need a bigger screen and do a ton of video calls for work. According to Dell support folks before I purchased, it should work fine w/the right converter cables. I hooked up the monitor to my Mac via its HDMI port using an HDMI>USB-C cable. The monitor works great, sound output works great. But I can't get the integrated camera or sound input to work, which is the whole point of buying this monitor. Am I missing a cable? A driver? Something I need to change in System Preferences? Or are these things simply not going to play nice together?

That would explain it! And forgive my limited-tech savvy...but just to make sure I'm following...sounds like the camera and sound of these integrated monitors rely on downloading a driver in order to work with my Mac - so it's not a cable issue at all, and there's nothing I can do until/if they release a driver for macOS?
