HomePod disconnecting Spotify

I have recently bought a HomePod even though I am an avid Spotify user because i was aware of the Airplay function and using the Siri voice control was not a priority for me.

After buying it however I have experienced nothing but trouble, to get it to connect can sometimes take 4 or 5 attempts (some ending in giving up!). When it does finally connect it will stop/start and connection will sometimes be fully dropped. On the odd occasion it works okay but that isn't good enough for the price of it!

What makes things a bit fishy for me is that I used Apple Music to test how that was and it works with no problems no questions asked whether i use the Siri feature or stream through Airplay from my phones Music app to the speaker.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

There are a series of steps you can follow here for AirPlay issues:

If you can't use AirPlay or mirror your device's screen - Apple Support


I recommend testing AirPlay with some different apps and see if the issue persists. If it's confined to just the Spotify app, you might want to contact Spotify. If it happens in multiple first party or third party apps that support AirPlay, you may want to try to reset your HomePod:
