No Sound from projector

I recently bought a lightning to hdmi adapter for my iphone 8 and i connected it to a mini projector from kodak, i can see video quality but can't hear sound using the netflix app. The sound and video both work for everything else. The hdmi is brand new and the adapter is also brand new. I've seen comments saying its the netflix app but im not really sure if thats true, if it is , is there anther way around this so i can hear sound
