iOS 13 Music App album art is incorrect.

I've got an iPhone XR and just upgraded to iOS 13. I go to the Music App and the album art is associated with the wrong playlists for about 1/3 of the library - and when I close and reopen the app, the incorrect pairings of image to file has shifted (example: the album cover for a U2 album was showing for a YES album the first time, now the U2 album has the correct cover, but a Talking Heads album has the art work for a Dave Brubeck album...etc.)

I have rebooted the phone, re-synced the music library on the phone, even removed all of the playlists, etc. and re loaded them and the issue remains.

This appears to be fixed for me now. Change appears to be having upgraded my Macbook to Catalina, because nothing has worked since this started with the rollout of iOS 13

  1. Upgraded Macbook Pro to macOS Catalina 10.15 last evening
  2. Iphone is at 13.1.2

I removed all the music from my phone, rebooted, reconnected and resynched all of my playlists this morning. Playlist artwork on the iPhone is good now. After repeatedly scrolling up and down the playlists, the correct album cover(s) are showing by the applicable playlist.

I don't have a Windows machine so I cannot test anything in that environment.

thanks-

I have a feeling Apple is focusing on the launch of the "Music" app and not too concerned with iTunes at this point, since its getting phased out. Maybe the Artwork playlist issue will get fixed in the new app. A deeper concern for me will be the switch from iTunes to "Music" and how that will effect my playlists and iTunes library. I've been curating my library for over 15 years, adding art work to imported on music transferred from vinyl or cd's, etc. It's been a lot of work through out the years and I cant help to feel anxious about these upcoming changes.

I found the same problem after upgrading my iPhone XR to IOS 13.1

I have been testing and looking at the results with both the Apple Music app and CS Music Player app on the same iPhone.

The results were interesting as well as surprising:

There is a definite artwork disconnect in playlists when using the Apple Music app.

There is NO PLAYLIST/ARTWORK DISCONNECT WHATSOEVER when using the CS Music Player app on the same iPhone!!

To me this means that playing around with the music library on my iPhone would be a total waste of time. The problem is not a library or database problem: The problem is with the IOS 13 version of the Apple Music app. I am sure Apple with look at these posts and eventually fix the problem. Since this is probably not a priority for Apple, I would suggest using the CS Music Player app from the App Store. (I purchased this years ago when the Apple Music app had a different problem that Apple was slow to fix, so I don't remember how much it costs but I am pretty sure it was under $5)

I see a lot of people saying they are only having the issue with playlist album art. ALL of my artwork is messed up, not just playlists.

Has anyone from Apple commented on this problem?

I’ve seen recommendations for CS Music Player... do you still just build your playlists via iTunes? If you add tracks on your phone to the playlist does it sync back to iTunes when you resync your phone? Does it work with CarPlay?

Same problem here-its existed for a while.I cant believe Apple dont seem to care about this. When i plugged in my iphone XR tonight after iTunes update-it then said removing iTunes-then came back up and couldnt connect to my iphone with this strange new error.(Error 0xe80000a)

Had to delete a folder in settings (Lockdown folder) to get it to recognise the phone. However before this i had taken Apples advise and removed iTunes from my phone.Reinstalled and of course whole library is gone. So plug in to sync and watch it download 4200 songs to my phone again-still with wrong Playlist album art but album art correct on all songs. How about fixing this Apple? -not like you're short of money or anything.Cant believe you can take a working product and stuff it this badly. However they do have a history of doing this. Listen to your forums and fix it!!!!

No way. I will not do any investment of time in this - and I suggest everyone not to waste his/her time. It is a bug in the OS 13 and only apple can handle it.

As they have moved to Catalina, they have -a lot- of other preocupations, thousands ... so this issue is not on top.

Of course they want to pressure us to go to the new system.

Nope!

But that's ok - I will just not go to Catalina and less than ever buy any new products of them. I will keep the old ones as long as possible. By the way - one does not miss a thing in not renewing his hardware, they stopped to be visionary long ago. This skill dyed with Jobs.

The new music app that replaced iTunes not only messed up more of the artwork, it also messed up the play order sequence of my existing smart playlists. Tried everything - even selecting the “copy by play order” option as some helpful posts suggested.

I sincerely hope this is not to get users so frustrated that they abandon their stored music libraries and cave in to hop over to the paid subscription service.

I still have iTunes 12.7 and I found this issue is prevalent with many reiterations of iTunes as well as the Music app. The only way I've kept ALL my artwork is to disconnect from WiFi AND put my iPod (or iPhone) in Airplane Mode. These prevent communicating with Apple which will change your artwork based on their sets of albums they use. If you want to use your own albums that will transfer correctly to your iPod or phone, I wouldn't allow any communication with your device and the Apple Store while you are synching...and again, by turning of WiFi and putting your device in Airplane Mode, you prevent that from happening.

I too have this jumbled music issue & none of the updates to date have addressed this issue . I spent an hour on the phone with Apple care to be told it was a copyright issue & therefore my problem.

unfortunately I’m not at all savvy with tec & needed AppleCare to care I mean really how hard can it be to apologise & say the bugs are still being sorted.....well I expect they are being sorted as well as the emails doubling up.

iOS 13 Music App album art is incorrect.
