Cannot add Google Account to MacOS Mojave

I'm trying to add my Google Account to my iMac (MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 with Safari 13.0).

I go the normal way: System Preferences > Internet Accounts > Google and get the normal dialog box: "Google Requires completing authentication in Safari."

When I click "Open Safari", Safari opens but doesn't load any URL. It just sits there forever with an empty page...

Any tips on how to fix this? I tried:

  • Rolling back to an older Safari: Mojave won't let me
  • Console logging: com.apple.preferences.internaccounts.remoteservice throws 2 errors:
    • Load failed with error Error Domain...
    • finished with error - code: -999
  • Disk Repair in hopes of fixing the above error: no errors found

I restored my authentication functions by signing out iCloud:

  1. System Preferences - iCloud - Sign Out.
  2. Restart Mac.
  3. Login iCloud again.

After that, somehow, mail accounts (office365, google, iCloud) stopped asking for credential again.

(If you want to try it, backup everything related to iCloud at your own risk).

I am not running MacOS Mojave yet but experience gMail log-in issue after upgrading to Safari 13. On screen a dialogue box told me to disable cookie, after a few trial & error I gain access by going to Safari preference, then the tab Websites and turn off Content Blockers related to "account.google.com". Now try adding the account again via System Preference to see if it will work. If it does, then Safari 13 could be the one that broke the "link" not Mojave. Hope this helps.

Same here. Both personal and business email accounts now borked on the Mac using Mail.

It all started when I changed some weak passwords (2FA only goes so far...), and the accounts prompting for "Google requires completing authentication in Safari.". Click on "Open Safari" and...nothing. And yes, I have just upgraded to Safari 13.0...

Come on Apple/Google - you're usually better than this.

Same error here. This issue is not limited to Google. After upgrading to safari13, my office 365 and iCloud (.......) authentications are also not working in mail app... For Gmail and Office365, mail app keeps asking me to Open Safari to enter password, yet Safari won't pop up any box for any password when I open it. iCloud account does pop up a window for me to input password, but when entered, it keeps telling me "unknown error occurred".

Fix safari13, please...
