Cannot add Google Account to MacOS Mojave

I'm trying to add my Google Account to my iMac (MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 with Safari 13.0).

I go the normal way: System Preferences > Internet Accounts > Google and get the normal dialog box: "Google Requires completing authentication in Safari."

When I click "Open Safari", Safari opens but doesn't load any URL. It just sits there forever with an empty page...

Any tips on how to fix this? I tried:

Rolling back to an older Safari: Mojave won't let me
Console logging: com.apple.preferences.internaccounts.remoteservice throws 2 errors:
- Load failed with error Error Domain...
- finished with error - code: -999
Disk Repair in hopes of fixing the above error: no errors found

iMac Line (2012 and Later)

I restored my authentication functions by signing out iCloud:

System Preferences - iCloud - Sign Out.
Restart Mac.
Login iCloud again.

After that, somehow, mail accounts (office365, google, iCloud) stopped asking for credential again.

(If you want to try it, backup everything related to iCloud at your own risk).

How I wish this fixed my problem, but it did not. I still get the same message and Safari never opens to validate.

There is no solution there. That is ONLY to get mail. You will not get contacts or Calendars.

Using iMAP for mail only is no solution. Apple needs to get on this.

Some said on another thread the issue have been solved with today’s release of iOS 13.1, can anyone here discussing under this thread confirm true?

Yes, Safari 3.0.1 fixes this.

AND it introduces the ability to use a physical security key in Safari (previously only usable in Chrome). So win:win! 😁
