I recently signed up for Apple Music, and when I loaded up iTunes on my computer I was distressed to find that EVERY song had been duplicated. This question has been asked other times:

But the given answer to just search for duplicates and delete every other one just doesn't ring true. There must be a better solution!
Well, in classic fashion, as soon as I went through the trouble of posting a question, I figured out the solution. In my case I had enabled apple music before authorizing my computer. I think this is what happened at least. So iTunes couldn't properly sync my library, and it's solution was to just leave duplicates of every song.
I fixed the problem by disabling Library Sync, and then re-enabling it a few moments later. Here's the post that I found that led me in the right direction:
