Playlist Art on iPhone after IOS 13

Yep, just happened to me on iOS 13.1 on my new 11 Pro. Didn’t happen on my old 7+ on iOS 13, just after I transferred everything. Tv shows showing artwork from other tv shows, or showing album covers from my music library...what a mess. The TV app has been crap for longer than the podcast app, and seems to be getting worse with each iOS improvement.

Same for me on iOS 13.1 on an 11 pro. Only after I synced everything from iTunes, never happened on my 7+ running 13. Tv shows displaying artwork from other tv shows, or even album art from my music library...what a mess. The TV app is worse with every new iOS.

My scenario:

- macOS 10.14.6 (Mojave) iMac Late 2015

- iTunes 12.9.5.5

- iOS 13.1.3 iPhone 11 Pro Max

- iTunes configured to sync `Entire music library`

- Many songs were displaying album covers of other songs

- Album and artist covers were displayed correctly

My suspicion is that a database cache is used to speed displaying album covers

or similar behaviour and that became corrupt at some stage during my iPhone

upgrade or subsequent syncing with iTunes.

The correct album covers were still embedded in each song file on my iMac, so

assuming the bug that causes the corruption is fixed in or before iOS 13.1.3,

forcing a re-sync of the entire music collection should rebuild the cache.

Hopefully this works for everyone else and I wasn't just lucky.

The following actions fixed it for me:

Note that creating and syncing a temporary playlist is probably unnecessary,

but is the actual sequence I performed, so I've included it just in case it

matters. It's also a quick way to check that the fix is going to work before

re-syncing the entire collection.

I recommend performing backups of both the iTunes host machine and the iPhone beforehand

1. Create a temporary playlist with one example song with incorrect album

cover for testing purposes

2. Select the iPhone in iTunes

3. Click on `Music` in the sidebar

4. Select option to sync `Selected playlists, artists, albums and genres`

5. Select only the temporary playlist created in step 1

6. Click `Apply` to sync the changes

7. All previously synced music is removed from the iPhone, leaving only the

single song in the temporary playlist, which still displays the song with

the wrong album cover

8. Deselect the temporary playlist in iTunes

9. Select another playlist that does not include the song in the temporary

playlist

10. Click `Apply` to sync the changes

11. The newly synced playlist should be showing the correct album covers

12. In iTunes, select the option to sync `Entire music library`

13. Click `Apply` to re-sync the remaining songs to the iPhone

After having many conversations with Apple Support over this and them offering no solution or acknowledging that it's an actual bug, I tried plugging my iPhone into my laptop and re-syncing the playlists that way.

It worked for the first time I opened my playlists on my iPhone, the cover art was back to normal, but then the second time I opened the Music app it went back to scrambling the cover art so I'm guessing that the issue is with the actual iOS Music app.

Thanks for the update. Shocking that Apple refuses to acknowledge the problem that so many are experiencing and complaining about. I fail to comprehend this behavior.

My X comes up for replacement in December. I am looking into how to get my music transferred to Android. I will be moving, along with the rest of my family. Reason? Apple’s behavior, not the actual IOS problem, which eventually be fixed.

Next time I won’t be so eager to upgrade iOS, god knows what can break. Shouldn’t have to upgrade to Catalina either to fix it in the new music app. Some say it's no big deal but it is, it's a major bug. There's are other discussions about the issue too. Come on Apple, instead of coming up with new emojis get this fixed.

All my playlists have artwork from artists with A when viewing them to select a playlist, when you tap the playlist it show the correct artwork, I have removed and resented my music again. For crying out loud Apple, get this fixed!

Apple, surely this must be relatively easy to fix !

My iPhone is on the update path. So I think I’m stuck and have to update to 13.2. I have turned off auto update on all other devices. I’m nervous about updating as my artwork seems to be back to normal. Will advise.

That's interesting because I've spoken to Apple Support three times about this now and they all seemed to think it was an "isolated incident". I told them to go and check out their forums as it is certainly not an isolated incident. I'm hoping that the more people that report it, the more likely we'll get a fix for it in a future update.

My dad tried it and it worked perfectly, he told me to update it and I did but the problem persist. Really thinking about getting rid of this POS cell and going back to Samsung like I was back in 2008.

My brother has been giving me crap for having an iPhone for years. He loves his Samsung and even carries two of them. My entire family is up for upgrade/replacement in December. Will make the move then if Apple doesn’t fix/publicly address the problems.

I have been having this problem too. I have tried everything. Updated to iOS 13.2 on iPhone X. Restored to factory settings. Restore from back up. Talked to Apple Support 3 or 4 times. Visited the Genius Bar, etc. No solution yet. I realize this is a first world problem, but it is still very upsetting. I upload 90% of my music from CD and add album art manually. So hours of work down the drain. Album covers jump around like crazy.

Please help as this is really annoying menny of the album covers don’t match the albums playing has anyone found a fix for this as it’s really ****** me off as I spent ages fixing it to only have it happen again as soon as I play the the songs??? Please help
