Playlist Art on iPhone after IOS 13

Hello,

Is anyone else encountering the issue of playlist art not showing the correct album art on the iPhone after updating to IOS 13? Yesterday, I updated my old iPhone X to the new IOS and it messed up the album art on my playlists on my iPhone. I just purchased the iPhone 11 Pro today and I was hoping would the issue wouldn’t be there but it still persists. In fact, it seems to randomly select a covert art for a playlist each time I open the music app. However, when I click on the actually playlist the correct album art is there. I know this is minor issue for some, but it is annoying the crap out of me right now lol.

I’m old school in that I manage all of my music via iTunes on windows and I don’t use the cloud at all. I just prefer to do it this way because I have a ton of music that I imported years ago via CD from back in my high school days. Anyone encountering this issue currently? I’ve tried re-syncing all of the music on my phone several times, uninstalling iTunes on my pc and reinstalling it, and cleaning the cache. I’ve had this happen in the past but can’t remember what I did to fix it. The album art is correct on my pc, and correct once I select a playlist on my phone. It’s just wrong when I’m looking at all of my playlists on my phone.

Best,

iPhone X

My playlist art, once I moved to iOS13.1 and later to 13.2 were scrambled and incorrect. I finally solved this by adding the artwork that I wanted for the playlist in iTunes and then re-syncing the phone.

Step-by-step

1) In iTunes, choose Music to see all your playlists on the left side.

2) Select the playlist that has the wrong cover on your phone so that the playlist and songs appear in the right pane.

3) Double-click the album art on the top of that list (yes it works) and a popup window will allow you to select an image. Just select an image that you want. I used a 500x500 pixel jpg or png image that I copied from one of the songs in the playlist.

4) Do this for all the playlists that you have.

5) Sync your phone

This worked for me - after trying unsuccessfully to solve by

1) changing all the artwork on each song,

2) deleting all music and re-synching,

3) deleting the Album Art cache and rebuilding.

I talked to support on the phone about this issue since my phone is a new 11 and they said I was the FIRST person to mention this issue! Everyone my age I know with an iPhone uses iTunes like me and our own music. We ALL have the same issue. One friend got the 11 also and called support. “Never heard of that before “ is what he got. They are training a lot of new techs right now. I’ve called three times, have a support ticket # with no solution. I get many excuses about my pc, internet speed and RAM. No usable answers. I feel scammed by them for not buying into Apple music like they want us too.

Hi all,

I have exactly the same artwork issue, with the wrong artwork appearing across playlists, albums, recently added.

I spend about 2 hours on the phone to Apple Support last Tuesday 24 September. I was asked to screen record what was appearing on my iPhone and then my iTunes, which is on my mac and send to Apple to view.

I was told an engineer would be assigned to look into this and to await a response.

I have not heard anything and did install the iOS patch update today and tried to update my iTunes and phone again, but the issue is still happening.

I have emailed Apple for an update and will happily share anything I get back on this forum.

It is very annoying as I have a lot of music files and use my phone all the time, but now it is very difficult and time consuming to find tracks, playlists or albums.

Come on Apple, this isn't great for your consumers or brand loyalty.

I'm thinking whether I want to move to another provider right now if this isn't fixed soon.

Either way, *******, that issue has nothing to do with the issue we’re talking about in this thread. Kindly take your **** attitude out of here then will you?

clearly you didn’t have other copies of the music on your phone, which is ridiculous in its own right, as you have to have the original files to sync them to your device. So it’s your fault for deleting originals and expecting never to need them again. We’re talking about mixed up playlist artwork, not your poor data management.

That seems to be their M-O right now and everyone is running out of patience. “That’s the first I’ve heard that”. Does Apple actually have THAT MANY Support Techs where we get a new one each time who has never heard of this issue? Like I posted earlier I brought this to the attention of a Support Supervisor two days after the iPhone 11 release and that was the answer I’ve gotten every time since. They know. Just tell us it is being addressed. $1500 is a lot ti pay for a phone with flaws in the app that I bought the Apple brand to begin with. The maker of the greatest mp3 player ever. Can’t seem to transfer that technology to their phone though.

You, famous? What a bluff. There’s no reason he should have removed the original files from his iTunes. That’s on him 100%, and yet he’s sitting here and bashing Apple for something this thread isn’t even meant to be about. Take responsibility for your own data and back it up to hardware.

as for the actual problem here, the artwork issue is at least somewhat negligible. Considering how big of an update iOS 13 was and this is the only real issue? You people are pretentious and unappreciative of how much work goes into such softwares. Shame on you.

I want them to fix it but I’m not going to sh*t on the entire company as a whole because of it. God you’re spoiled

Getting of a plane today, I said to a friend, “Do not under any circumstances upgrade to 13”. Guy behind us said “Amen”. All of the positive new functions have been completely lost on me as I fail to recognize them in light of the problems that I am encountering. Bad outweighs the good. Thanks Tim Cook for your wonderful rollout speech. Totally lost me when I upgraded. You have done more harm than good.
