Playlist Art on iPhone after IOS 13

Hello,

Is anyone else encountering the issue of playlist art not showing the correct album art on the iPhone after updating to IOS 13? Yesterday, I updated my old iPhone X to the new IOS and it messed up the album art on my playlists on my iPhone. I just purchased the iPhone 11 Pro today and I was hoping would the issue wouldn’t be there but it still persists. In fact, it seems to randomly select a covert art for a playlist each time I open the music app. However, when I click on the actually playlist the correct album art is there. I know this is minor issue for some, but it is annoying the crap out of me right now lol.

I’m old school in that I manage all of my music via iTunes on windows and I don’t use the cloud at all. I just prefer to do it this way because I have a ton of music that I imported years ago via CD from back in my high school days. Anyone encountering this issue currently? I’ve tried re-syncing all of the music on my phone several times, uninstalling iTunes on my pc and reinstalling it, and cleaning the cache. I’ve had this happen in the past but can’t remember what I did to fix it. The album art is correct on my pc, and correct once I select a playlist on my phone. It’s just wrong when I’m looking at all of my playlists on my phone.

Best,

iPhone X

My playlist art, once I moved to iOS13.1 and later to 13.2 were scrambled and incorrect. I finally solved this by adding the artwork that I wanted for the playlist in iTunes and then re-syncing the phone.

Step-by-step

1) In iTunes, choose Music to see all your playlists on the left side.

2) Select the playlist that has the wrong cover on your phone so that the playlist and songs appear in the right pane.

3) Double-click the album art on the top of that list (yes it works) and a popup window will allow you to select an image. Just select an image that you want. I used a 500x500 pixel jpg or png image that I copied from one of the songs in the playlist.

4) Do this for all the playlists that you have.

5) Sync your phone

This worked for me - after trying unsuccessfully to solve by

1) changing all the artwork on each song,

2) deleting all music and re-synching,

3) deleting the Album Art cache and rebuilding.

Really losing confidence in Apple lately! I have had iPhones since day #1 and every model upgrade every time they came out, I have iPad and Macbook Pro, and my wife and kids all have iPhones and Macbook Pro's. I spend a lot of money with Apple and the last 2 years of bugs in software and their lack of QC in software updates is really frustrating beyond words. This playlist artwork is VERY ANNOYING and I use my playlist all the time in the car and the artwork issue is driving me nuts! The bug fix should have been done quite a while ago now. I may have to rethink my Apple purchases going forward.

I hate to laugh but, lol, because I’ve done this at least five times. The other times my 11 Pro decided to delete all my music at random. I only read the first couple replies but I imagine we’re all experiencing similar frustrations. One of the worst parts about it is not being able to back up our music/playlists. Since the removal of iTunes I’ve had to drag selected music to my iPhone in the finder and then manually add all the songs to whatever playlist I wanted. Talk about time consuming. The biggest problem I have with iTunes being removed is not being able to manage your playlists through my MacBook. My phone has been selectively removing album art from any music I transfer. Regardless of whether purchased from iTunes, or from cds and mixtapes which was never an issue before. I took a screenshot of what I’m listening to now to show an idea.

*Also does anyone know how to see what playlist you’re currently listening to. I tried going through and figuring it out by the songs in it but I’d rather not spend 5 hours looking lol thanks

The latest updates still haven’t fixed my Album Art Issues, I’m running Catalina 10.15.3 on my Mac, iPad OS 13.3.1 on my iPad Pro 3rd Gen, and IOS 13.3.1 on my iPhone 11Pro Max. I have over 29K songs on all my devices, and at least a third of the album artwork is missing on my Mac, iPad, and iPhone. I don’t subscribe Apple Music. These are songs I bought from iTunes and ones put on my devices. Some of the album art is not only missing on my iPhone, some of the album art is also mixed up on various albums and playlists. In other words the wrong album art is displayed on some of the albums and playlists, only on the iPhone. I see that some of you said that the latest updates fixed your album art issues. Is it something else I need to do other than syncing my devices to the Mac? I’m beyond frustrated with Apple, because I made several trips to the Genius Bar, talked to various techs and engineers online and by phone, and sent two emails to Mr. Cook over the course of four months regarding these issues. I feel that Apple should do more to address these annoying issues, because for the amount of money Apple demands for their premium products, we in return demand premium service. I believe if Mr. Jobs were here, he would crack the whip or heads would roll.

Come on Apple these posts are from September of 2019 you've done nothing to fix this issue. We've known about this for 6 months now with bug reports filed. All you need to do is spend 5 minutes on it to find your mistake. Use the guy/gal sitting there twiddling their fingers thinking about what other bell or whistle he can add to one of your junk apps, they're not busy!

Unfortunately the update only fixed the album artwork for some, My iPad Pro 3rd Gen running iPad OS 13.3.1 and MacBook Pro running Mac OS 10.15.3 Catalina is still not showing around a third of the album artwork, and some of the album artwork on my iPhone 11 Pro Max running IOS 13.3.1 is missing and a lot of it is mixed up in the library and playlists. I’m beyond frustrated with Apple, because this should have been fixed months ago. I hope they read these forums and see that we need these issues FIXED ONCE AND FOR ALL.

It's back...... Updated my iPhone 7 to 13.4.1. Running Mojave 10.14.6 on my MBP 15-inch. (I don't want to update to Catalina). Scrambled artwork again. (previous iOS was fine) Any new album I import from my Mac will generate random artwork. Only from my personal library, all Apple music purchases seem to be fine. I have tried all the usual reset, wipe and restore, re-sync etc. Nothing seems to resolve this. Anyone else experiencing these issues with the latest iOS update?

Now it is getting even more "creative" on its own. It is mismatching Album Cover artwork with the songs - and now it has started playing versions of songs I never purchased or downloaded by artists I've never heard of. In some instances it is a different performers version of the song I own. Other times it is a different song altogether that happens to have the same name. Very strange Apple.
