Playlist Art on iPhone after IOS 13

Hello,

Is anyone else encountering the issue of playlist art not showing the correct album art on the iPhone after updating to IOS 13? Yesterday, I updated my old iPhone X to the new IOS and it messed up the album art on my playlists on my iPhone. I just purchased the iPhone 11 Pro today and I was hoping would the issue wouldn’t be there but it still persists. In fact, it seems to randomly select a covert art for a playlist each time I open the music app. However, when I click on the actually playlist the correct album art is there. I know this is minor issue for some, but it is annoying the crap out of me right now lol.

I’m old school in that I manage all of my music via iTunes on windows and I don’t use the cloud at all. I just prefer to do it this way because I have a ton of music that I imported years ago via CD from back in my high school days. Anyone encountering this issue currently? I’ve tried re-syncing all of the music on my phone several times, uninstalling iTunes on my pc and reinstalling it, and cleaning the cache. I’ve had this happen in the past but can’t remember what I did to fix it. The album art is correct on my pc, and correct once I select a playlist on my phone. It’s just wrong when I’m looking at all of my playlists on my phone.

Best,

iPhone X

My playlist art, once I moved to iOS13.1 and later to 13.2 were scrambled and incorrect. I finally solved this by adding the artwork that I wanted for the playlist in iTunes and then re-syncing the phone.

Step-by-step

1) In iTunes, choose Music to see all your playlists on the left side.

2) Select the playlist that has the wrong cover on your phone so that the playlist and songs appear in the right pane.

3) Double-click the album art on the top of that list (yes it works) and a popup window will allow you to select an image. Just select an image that you want. I used a 500x500 pixel jpg or png image that I copied from one of the songs in the playlist.

4) Do this for all the playlists that you have.

5) Sync your phone

This worked for me - after trying unsuccessfully to solve by

1) changing all the artwork on each song,

2) deleting all music and re-synching,

3) deleting the Album Art cache and rebuilding.

I am also having this problem, as is my spouse. We both have iPhone 7's. I will not be upgrading to Catalina for at least a few years, as I will lose access to over $1,000 of older software. Also, I have 1000+ playlists, and will be very angry If I need to correct the cover art manually on all of them. Apple please fix this!

I’ve checked many forums.. Still no response from Apple? We pay for their service to basically share music. The music feature is pretty much the same as Spotify and even Amazon Prime music. I prefer Apple Music but if it’s not working what’s the point? Can we get some support because I’m one of millions experiencing the ******** glitch that is not being addressed by Apple. And I’m on an iPhone still paying for the service. I’d appreciate if it can be fixed on your end and not a move the force to buy another phone. Eventually I plan to but if it’s forced, than that will effect my trust. I’ll promote whatever I feel. Please fix the issue Apple.

I have an iPhone 11 and iOS 13.3 and the iTunes album artwork on my playlist is shuffled and not displaying correct on the listing screen. When you select a playlist the album artwork is correct in the file it’s just not displaying the correct artwork in the playlist menu. So frustrating!!!! I do not subscribe to Apple Music- I’m sure that’s the fix, right?!? Ugh. Help me please. 😤😭🤯😫

Leaving this forum. Too many postings outlining and confirming that there is a problem with the new phones and OS on multiple levels without any comments from Apple acknowledging issues or a plan to correct. Can’t deal with all of the time consuming daily emails I am getting.

I am also leaving Apple for these reasons.

see you on the other side.

Adios amigos.

Hi - I have contacted Apple and they sent me a nice note with a couple of helps but I don’t think it’s the fix. I need to call them.

here is the link they sent. I do not have a Mac computer- so?

im thinking it’s something to do with a past file? Although before the new iOS it was fine so maybe not.

I will give update after call to support.

Ugh, I was hoping to come here and find a resolution. Not scroll through pages of other poor souls with the same problem. Misery doesn’t always love company.

The new Music app on the Mac and the iPhone issues are a total step back from Apple. Why have they REDUCED functionality for users? I was perfectly happy with the way things worked before.

Fix it, Apple. Jesus. There’s been an insane number of updates and patches since this new crap went live. How is it conceivably possible that these problems persist???

Welp, phone updated to 13.3 WITHOUT my permission, and now I have this problem. This is why I was staying with ios 12, but I guess the phone AI got sick of it. Now my playlists are screwy, and I read that THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE VERSION 13.0?!!?!!!!! Tried unsyncing music / power cycling / resyncing, didn't do anything.

This is clearly Apple's fault, since the album art didn't change. I wish there were a way to go back to all-text playlists! The wrong artwork is super distracting and makes me flip right past the right playlists.

Where the heck is Apple in this thread? Where have they been the whole time?!!

If I'm rebuilding any playlists, it will be in Winamp because I have finally gone back to an operating system I can trust. To be perfectly honest, the playlists were the ONLY reason I have stuck with Apple.

If you look at the first sentence in my post, you will see it's 13.3. I use a itunes on a Mac.

I spent over four hours yesterday on the phone with Apple, I spoke to five people. Two supervisors and three underlings. I was able to get my case elevated to "engineering" since they could not help me.

It's funny (not haha) that it took four hours for me to get the privilege of actually getting to someone who can help me. Supervisors and underlings only tell you to force restart, unsync and resync music, and also straight up factory reset + restore from backup.

So now I will get an answer in four business days. My guess is that they just stopped supporting iphone 6S, and won't tell me that. My guess is we are all out of luck if we stick with Apple. I do not hear about Android users having dumb problems like this!
