home hub on a mac mini or macbook pro

i see in the description of home hub that it's set up on an apple tv, home pod, or ipad. i have a mac mini and macbook pro that are always at home...can it be set up on one of those too? i'd like the simple feature of turning on a light when my motion detector detects motion but it looks like i need a home hub for this.
