Why is my watch connected to my iphone when i turn on the bluetooth? My watch is in airplane mode. This happened when i updated my watch to watchOS 6 and my iphone to iOS 13. Is this normal?

i have a solution. Worked for me (iwatch 4, watch OS 6.0.1)
(watches are still connected to iphone because bluetooth is still on)
(watches are disconnected from iphone)
and that's all - nextime when you turn airplane mode on, bluetooth will turn off in the exact same moment...watches somehow remembers, that you turned bluetooth off after you turned airplane mode on, and keep it that way.

Same problem since watchOS 6.
I use the airplane mode while I’m sleeping and now my watch is still connected to my iPhone.
Hello filippo555 we’re exactly on the same boat. I don’t like my watch connected always to my phone hence i put it in Airplane Mode. I will try to report this to Apple.

Thank you!!! Everyone do the above, it solves the problem. You have to now turn off bloothtooth from the watch settings menu.
Yes annoying. my apple watch 4 with ios6…. airplane mode ON… every notification comes through… texts, phone calls, news, etc…. it should not… that is the point of airplane mode….

I've reported this issue to Apple. I hope they find a quick fix for it. I tried everything but my watch continues to communicate with my phone. Very annoying.
But It didn't work for me .. My watch is still connected to my iphone..
