Crackling Sound from Keyboard

For the past month or so my mac air has been making some very concerning noises. At first it was the fan sounding very strained as if I was running a large download, then came a fuzzy noise from the keyboard which would come on intermittently - usually when I first opened my mac after it had been sleeping. Now, it is making a consistently loud crackling/static noise. I have restarted and shut down my laptop numerous times in an attempt to fix it, but now only if I lift up the base of the laptop on then set it back down on my desk will the noise stop....for about 5 minutes where it then starts up again. The noise sounds like it's coming from the keyboard, and I have absolutely no idea what to do about this!
