i would like to rename my shortcut icon without the word WEBLOC in it. how do i do this? what is the purpose of it anyway? it takes up space, and it looks messy. i know it is a WEBLOC,so why does it need to tell me that.. it is unnecessary, and redundant...
That file needs the wedlock extension so that the system knows which app, Safari or whatever browser is your default browser, is needed to open it. Without the extension the file turns into a generic icon and file:
Do you have the Finder preferences set to not display the extensions?
thanks for your response.... it didn't print WEBLOC in the name of the link a month or so ago. i guess something changed and i did not note it. my iMac is macOS High Sierra 10.3.6. why was that changed/added? ..i thought maybe my browser is not up to date...but it is all updated from what i see. thanks again....
