Mickey & Minnie Mouse watch face do not speak time when tapped after installing Watch OS6.0

The Mickey & Minnie Watch faces do not speak the time after installing Watch OS6.0. Settings indicate “Tap to speak time” is turned on, and the sound on the watch is NOT muted. What actions should I take to resolve this issue, or is this a software problem?

Apple moved the setting to CLOCK. On your Watch go to Settings, then to CLOCK tap on it and turn on "Speak Time" & "Always Speak". In addition check your Control Panel and make sure nothing is muted. I know you said you did it, but it worked for me and some others.

I had the same problem, but resolved it using the work-around described in this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250648935?page=1

The procedure discovered by Webster603 and Mb0355 is as follows, and assumes that your volume is turned up and that Tap to Speak is ON in the Mickey or Minnie watch face settings:

  1. Re-boot the watch by pressing both the stem and side button simultaneously and holding until a white apple appears
  2. When the watch has re-booted, switch to a watch face other than Mickey or Minnie.
  3. in the Watch app on your iPhone, click on Accessibility and turn VoiceOver ON.
  4. Wait for your watch to speak the information on your non-Mickey or Minnie watch face.
  5. Turn OFF VoiceOver under Accessibility on the Watch app of your iPhone.
  6. Switch the watch face to Mickey or Minnie and tap the screen to hear them speak the time.

This seems awfully convoluted, but it worked for me and several other people. Hope it works for you until Apple implements a proper fix.

GOT A FIX FOR THE MICKEY & MINNIE NO SOUND ISSUE:

  • I spoke with an Apple Rep. took several action steps and finally got these 2 faces to speak the time as they are intended to do so. Bottom line, I recommend you take the following action, as we did, which resolved the issue. (These are the "action steps" that resolved the issue - not all the trouble shooting steps):
  • On your iPhone, click your name then UNPAIR your Watch
  • Power your watch OFF, then turn it back on
  • After the phone is unpaired completely, and turned on again, Pair your Watch again....which will take a bit of time.
  • Your Pairing process will require you again to use the camera on your phone and point it at the screen of your watch (You will be instructed on the phone and or watch when to do this)
  • Your watch will take a bit of time to pair. Follow watch screen and follow prompts. The watch will indicate when it is paired with your phone.
  • Place 2 fingers on the Mickey and or Minnie watch face, and it will tell the time....This works on "other" watch faces as well and they too will verbally tell you the time. Do not tap, but rather, place 2 fingers on the watch screen. Not too much pressure or you will get a "customization" option. Just gently place 2 fingers on the screen.
  • I trust this will resolve everyone's issue.
  • Best wishes!!!!

Same here. Series 4. Mickey/Minnie voice was lost immediately after updating to OS6.

All my settings for sound are correct, I’ve removed and reinstalled the faces, and have left watch on charger for at least 15 minutes while connected to secure WiFi. All other watch faces speak time with a two finger tap (Siri voice), but Mickey/Minnie won’t speak with any tap.

Hope this is resolved soon. For me, nothing in OS6 is worth losing Minnie’s voice.

Julieda,

Thank you for your feedback. I turned on “Speak Time” & “Always Speak”. I don’t see a “Control Panel” on the watch, but I went to “Control Center” on my iPhone and don’t see any place to mute sounds. After making the one change to the “Speak Time” & “Always Speak” setting, the sound still does not work. I deleted the Mickey & Minnie faces from the watch, then reloaded them, yet no time sound is produced when I double tap the watch face, as I did before this software update.

I am saddened with the reply I received, which indicates the Mickey & Minnie watch faces no longer speak the time after iOS 6 installation. This is very strange to me. My assumption is that the newest updates improve customer experiences. This is not the case if the latest software update deleted voice function for these watch faces.

This did NOT resolve my issue, and I will share why, but I sincerely appreciate your feedback. There MUST be a "fix" if we can collectively figure it out. I have iPhoneXs Max and Watch 4, so we have very similar apple products. I took the actions you recommend. Because I have SEVERAL watch faces loaded on my Apple Watch that I scroll between, depending on my mood.....Micky & Minnie are 2 of them. I also have the VERY bold numerical watch face and Pictures. After turning on the functions you recommend, the first watch face, which was the LARGE Numerical watch face, when I touched the screen, the time was announced. Good news...HOWEVER, I could NOT scroll to any different watch face....therefore, I could not test if Micky & Minnie speak. Possibly you have to choose only one of them for this to work. Still problematic. Oh, and not only does the watch face speak the time when I tap it, with these settings turned on, ALL the icons on the watch face speak what they are...such as "Settings", "Heart Rate", etc. Thx again for the information you provided.
