How to cool Macbook down?

Dear all,

I have been using my Macbook Pro for 2 years now and recently realised that it is getting way to hot sometimes, even when watching one youtube video.

I have tried some simple solutions like running fewer tabs on Chrome, running antivirus scans, downloading a fan app to manually control the fans, etc. but it still feels too hot.

What should I do in this case? Should I take it apart and try to clean the dust under the hood? I have AppleCare+, does it cover this service for free?

Thank you guys!

Best,

Peera

In addition to the troublemakers Leroy lists, so-called "cleaning/tune-up" apps can raise internal temps as much as Chrome and useless anti-virus software.

Most newer MacBook Pros exhaust the hot air through the hinge area in the back. If this is blocked by a blanket or pillow, or even items on a workstation, your temps will climb fast.

Do NOT take it apart if your AppleCare is still in force. That could void the coverage. You need to ask at an Apple store if AppleCare covers cleaning.

Perhaps this is a Faulty Device?

Let Apple Troubleshoot this;

Don’t Fiddle around with it, as that may void the AppleCare+ protection.

Start by Contacting Apple, Using this Info:

While on the Phone, Set Up an Genius Bar Appointment:

Go Here: Genius Bar Appointment. You would take this to your Local Apple Store, during which the screen and all other necessities would be looked at.

In the Meantime:

With heat being the major concern here, place this on a “Laptop Cooler” powered from an external source of power(not powered off the laptop), and set it aside in an opened, non-enclosed location.
