iOS 13, Siri making calls on speaker phone by default.

I just received notice that there has been an update for IOS13.1.1 to 13.1.2 which I downloaded. It does not fix Siri directed calls that still go to speaker by default. As soon as possible. Very annoying especially when you’re using your Bluetooth in your car which does not go through the car speaker but your phone speaker.

I wrote Gordon Kelly of Forbes. He is the head tech writer who writes about all phones. I wrote him and asked him to publish our story! He did it last night!!! Maybe apple will listen!!! I'm posting the link. He even quoted us!!!

Update 13.1.3 did not fix the problem on my iPhone 11 Pro. If I use my voice to tell Siri to place a call, it still results in the call being automatically routed over the speaker, even when a headset is plugged in.

That doesn't seem to affect it. I've tried "Automatic", "Bluetooth Headset" and Speaker all seem to default to speakerphone. It's really annoying when I'm in my car trying to make a phone call using Siri and it always goes to Speakerphone instead of my cars bluetooth.

Yes, my husband and I are both experiencing the same issue. When Siri makes a call, it is defaulting to speaker phone. (VERY ANNOYING)

Yes, that's been happening to me as well, very annoying! I'm using bluetooth in my car and have to physically change the method which is dangerous.

Same problem. Also my iPhone8 plus now randomly ignores my headphones.

Plugged them in last night so I could listen to my book in bed. iPhone played on speaker instead at near to full volume. Woke up my wife who was not amused!

I went to Assessibility > Touch > Call Audio Routing - and it is already on 'automatic', NOT speaker. But it still ALWAYS turns on the speaker automatically when I make a call using SIRI. VERY annoying.

I know that siri learns your actions with apps by default. I like for siri to be smart, but when she starts doing what she wants, I don't like it!

I mainly use hey Siri in my car and it plays over my stereo Bluetooth for safety. Now it goes to speaker and I have to mess with it while driving which is VERY dangerous. I may switch to another phone brand in November when I’m eligible. Siri is the only thing I use mostly.

i’m having the opposite problem. when i say, “siri, call my wife on speaker.” (which i did all the time on ios 12.x) siri would respond by saying, “calling ‘(insert my wife’s name)’ on speaker.” now it just calls my wife and responds, “calling ‘(insert my wife’s name).’”

yes, I have the exact same problem. Siri automatically sends the phone call to speaker and it’s really annoying me. Sometimes I forget that it does that, and when I go to put the phone to my ear, I become deaf for about five seconds when somebody speaks through it lol. I’ve tried different ways to resolve this issue, but there is no option on the phone to turn it off. I really hope that they resolve this soon.

The earlier fix that someone suggested has worked for me. Siri still says “on speaker”, but the call does not go to speaker.

hey apple folks, how about a Do Not Disturb for text messaging??? You have one for phone calls, but it would be nice to have one for a text bounce back with a custom message of your choosing. Let’s work on that. I believe android already has it.

Yes i am on ios 13 too as well and its so annoying especially out in public when u gotta make make a phone call and cant type a number or go into your contacts to find the person you have to call and find it easier to just ask siri to call that specific person....🤔
